Blade alignment is the process of mounting or installing your skate blade, in a position that meets your specific body composition and skate performance needs. This is a highly detailed and precise process! There are a few things to consider:

  1. Every body is different. Whether you have flat arches or high arches, pronated or supinated stance, knock-kneed or bow legged, your blade MUST be mounted in a very precise location in order to maximize your balance, power and performance on the ice.

  2. Skates are not perfectly balanced and square, right out of the box. Skate companies do a great job using the best technology available to make incredible products for our players. Your skates might look perfect at first glance, however the reality is there are many imperfections evident, even on a brand new pair of skates. Yes, including custom skates! Our job is to connect the blade to your feet, and we do this by analyzing the skate boot (upper), identify the imperfections, combine this with your body composition and connect everything together with proper blade positioning.

  3. Your current blade mount has been completed by a machine. There is no science as to how the blade is mounted at the factory of the skate manufacturer. This is not a defect or a problem, it is simply the reality of skates being mass produced. Additionally, the skate manufacturer cannot possibly know your individual body type and performance needs. That’s where we come in!

When you add all of these factors together, you can understand why this process is so important. No different than a professional golfer fine tuning their clubs, or a race car having its tires balanced, your skates require the same level of detail during the fitting process. At the end of the day, we want you to skate to your absolute maximum potential, and prevent injuries at the same time.

All alignment services are by appointment only.
